Following her collaboration with 88rising’s ISOxo on ‘SHYPOP’, Ninajirachi returns today to announce her forthcoming EP 4×4 out this November 10 via NLV Records. With the news, she also shares her latest single ‘Undo U’. LISTEN HERE.
Launching a warmer side to the icy soundscape that she built on her highlight-acclaim debut mixtape Second Nature, Ninajirachi expands on her experimental approach to club music in her upcoming EP 4×4. Inspired by the nature of pop songwriting akin to Grimes and the avante-garde electronic production of Oli XL and G Jones, ‘Undo U’ features a droning bass that lays the foundation for a baile funk pattern, ebbing and flowing to make way for flurries of unexpected sounds that range from harp samples to DJ scratches.
With the release, she enhances the addictive, larger-than-life club sound that embraces all corners of dance music which has become synonymous with her artistry. Best put in her own words, Ninajirachi shares “This year I spent sooooo much time in America touring and collaborating with other musicians vs. at home I’m usually just writing and producing alone. It’s been fun and I’ve learned a lot. ‘Undo U’ was written back in April in between USA show dates and it was literally done in a day. It sounds like me +1 step forward imo & there is plenty more to come >:)”
‘Undo U’ follows some major career moments in the last year for Ninajirachi, including recent releases ‘SHYPOP’ with 88rising’s ISOxo and ‘1×1 ft Ravenna Golden’ as well as her debut mixtape Second Nature, which saw Ninajirachi take widespread success, playing at Lollapalooza, gracing NME Magazine Australia’s cover story, garner playlisting on triple j and Unearthed alongside community radio station FBi Radio’s Album of the Week, placements in Best of 2022 album lists for The Guardian Australia and NME respectively alongside praise from Bandcamp, Rolling Stone, The OZ, Pilerats, Music Feeds, and others alongside guest mixes across Dublab and Crack Magazine.
Having hit the ground running with a touring history that includes support shows with Mallrat, Charli XCX, What So Not and Cashmere Cat, Ninajirachi set the touring circuit alight with sold-out headline shows in both Eora / Sydney and Naarm / Melbourne and a busy festival season playing Dark Mofo, Wildlands, Beyond The Valley, Field Day and Spilt Milk, of which NME Australia praised her as “the most underrated artist in Australian dance music”, alongside recent U.S. tour performances at Hard Summer, and Imagine Festival.
‘Undo U’ by Ninajirachi is out NOW via NLV Records.
