Following from her anthemic Melanie C collaboration ‘Girl’, Anna Lunoe today presents her newest joint venture with South London’s Yiigaa, who has reimagined the title track from Anna’s 2024 debut album Pearl as part of the album’s deluxe edition out May 9 via NLV Records.
In her debut album, we saw Anna devote herself to boundary-pushing new sounds, explore every corner of club music and find what feels truest to her, combining the perspective that experience brings with a new clarity, vision, and energy. Praised by Mixmag Australia as “a mammoth 13 tracks covering everything from bouncy club beats to lush sounding electronica, Pearl is a sum of all of Anna’s hard work up until this point”, Anna re-approached her love for dance music as a genre that has guided her through her life, with a creative direction that relinquishes over a decade of production depth and storytelling to forge her own narrative.
Reimagining the original single, South London’s Yiigaa offers a fresh perspective on ‘Pearl’s empowering message of growth and regeneration. With Yiigaa’s trademark smooth delivery and vulnerable lyricism – “Please don’t judge me / I’ve been moving with emotion / Lost my place” – Anna calls the collaboration “cohesive” and shares, “Pearl has such a gentle strength which is part of what I love about Yiiga’s work”. Yiigaaa extends this sentiment, sharing “I have admired Anna for years, and her trailblazing nature has made her such an influential inspiration for women in the world of electronic music and dance. Writing this song was one of the easiest experiences I’ve had—the beat brought out a sense of euphoria, honesty, and freedom in me. The journey of emotions throughout the track’s musicality allowed me to express exactly how I felt in that moment. Bringing together the sounds of London’s alt scene with this track felt like a match made in heaven.”
Eora/Sydney-born and based multi-talent Anna Lunoe has built a career few can rival and a reputation as a revered voice, leader, and pioneer in dance music globally. Aside from securing triple j Feature Album, her debut album Pearl was named one of Billboard’s Best Dance Albums of 2024 and brought features across the board from Mixmag AU/NZ, Bandcamp, Rolling Stone, Wonderland, Music Tech, EDM.com and widespread radio support from BBC Radio 1, KCRW, Apple Music, Foundation FM, Rinse FM, Reprezent Radio, Sirius FM, fbi.radio, RTR FM, SYN FM among others.
Additionally, she brought her glass ceiling smashing sets across the world, from Boiler Room Sydney to Beyond The Valley, she supported The Weeknd on his 2024 After Hours Til Dawn tour, brought headline shows to venues in the US including Elsewhere (NYC), Smartbar (IL), Sound Nightclub (LA) and to the UK in support of Dom Dolla at Drumsheds. With the release of Pearl, Anna Lunoe showcased her range of artistry and now with the deluxe edition, she expands on the sonic narrative with two brand new tracks that unveil a new prism of electronica.
