The EP’s elastic opener, ‘Thermal Failure’, came about through work on another remix, similar to how ‘Intraheat’ came about. The result is a squelchy haven of wonky melodies, crisp drums & rubbery synths.
‘Amateur Slugger’ is arguably the heaviest of the four tracks, with a punchy tech-kick, a dub- echoed build & a release that sees him have fun with the track’s rhythm. The EP’s closer, ‘Freezeframe’ embodies a specific style of synth chop that he was trying hard to replicate, & rounds out a versatile release that was born out of experimentation and no rules.
