Reggae and Dancehall trailblazer Gold Fang today returns with his latest single – ‘Facelift’featuring multi-platinum Billboard artist 1st Klase. LISTEN + WATCH HERE.
A meditation on self-assurance, self-discovery and introspection, ‘Facelift’ is a narrative that resonates with raw honesty and examines how music can both discover what makes one feel good and give way to clearer understanding. In his first drop of the year, ‘Facelift’ sees Gold Fang embrace his storytelling proficiency and ability to command full attention, continuing to illustrate hiseffortless ability to adapt his songwriting wherever his instincts take him, harnessing his own experience with a cornucopia of influences from his Caribbean roots.
Written in London with J.Ar.J on a UK writing trip funded by Music Australia, the track arrives in collaboration with Caribbean producer, artist and 1st Klase Records founder 1st Klase (Sean Paul, David Guetta) who takes the track into deep overload and finds a new rhythm, bringing his own appreciation for dancehall to the table.
“After not releasing music for a good minute I wanted to go back to what make ME feel good while addressing issues .. Everything is a uphill battle in this industry. Judgement. Criticism etc. We all human and make mistakes. That don’t mean we shouldn’t have we fair slice of the cake to. Facelift is taking what we deserve and if you nah Wah give it then…..Wah d name ? exactly”
The single arrives with a music video shot by Rael Luvi (R93 Films) in Trinidad, assisted by the Australian Government as part of export funding by Music Australia. Of their collaboration, Rael shares “It was actually great working on this visual with fellow Trini brothers Fang and Klase this connect was a special one.” On working with Trinidadian creatives, Gold Fang shares “I had to link up with muh trailblazing Trinidadian trapikal brother for this one. Being a dancehall/trinibad artists/producer in a soca driven scene and bringing his ideas to life is nothing but respect I’m sure he know the struggles of bringing something new to the table so it was a perfect match up.”
Since the release of his debut mixtape SMOOVE KILLA, Gold Fang has steadily solidified his spot at the forefront of the thriving Afro-Caribbean space. Embraced by triple j, FBi Radio, Red Bull, NME, Acclaim Magazine, Music Feeds, Sniffers and more who have praised his “smooth grooves of reggae” (triple j) that has “cemented him as a leading artist in a new wave of diverse talent” (Tone Deaf) and “sounds like nothing else in the scene right now” (Acclaim Magazine), he has also celebrated momentum as a live artist with his own More Life party and support slots alongside international heavy-hitters Lil Nas X, Fire Boy DML and J Balvin, played iconic festivals including SXSW Sydney, Field Day, Splendour in the Grass, Promiseland and Beyond The Valley and more.
