Lewis Cancut is a Melbourne based composer, artist, & sound designer whose practice spans pop-music, immersive installation, video, & text. He is one of the first signees to NLV Records, contributing his track ‘Systems’ to the label’s inaugural Sampler.
Since the project’s inception, Lewis has gone on to release more than fifty compositions on record labels worldwide. He has toured both nationally & internationally, & has produced music for artists including Jennifer Lopez, Tkay Maidza, Haiku Hands, Branko & others.
In 2014, Lewis was among the 1% of successful applicants who participated in the Tokyo RBMA Academy, where he recorded singles ‘Lights’ & ‘Say Ok’ with Japanese pop artist, TIGARAH. He has since returned regularly to record works in their Shibuya studios.
Over the course of his time with NLV Records, Lewis has released two solid EP’s in 2016’s Indoor Rainforest & 2019’s Air Condition. His collaborations on the label tend to be long-lasting, with a few works under his belt with TIGARAH & Melbourne-based fragmented-pop artist, Jordan Variant.
As a sound designer, Lewis has been commissioned to compose accompanying audio for video installations at ACMI Melbourne, VR environments for the Miller Design Lab, Snapchat lenses, & more. He is currently completing a Master of Fine Art by coursework at RMIT University.
Now with new music in the process of being mixed and mastered, 2022 is shaping up to be another busy year for this Melbourne DJ / Producer.
