Since first joining forces on the triple j playlisted ‘Pesadão’, the partnership of Naarm DJs and producers FOURA and Shuga today share ‘PARAR’, out now via NLV Records.
From an unassuming studio session, FOURA and Shuga couldn’t have anticipated just how their collaboration on ‘Pesadão’ would unlock an all new creative frontier. The larger-than-life production would soar on triple j and community radio, with fans across PBS, 3RRR, raving “bow down to the queen of booty popping basslines” (Kailyn Crabbe, triple j Mix Up). Today’s ‘PARAR’ unravels the next phase of their creative venture together.
‘PARAR’ is a fiery club weapon of baile funk, dubstep, dancehall and drill. FOURA explains, “PARAR feels like us kicking the door back open after Pesadão. The phrase ‘vai me parar’ means ‘you can’t stop me’, which sums up the energy. Tough, fierce and very club-focused. Shuga came in with a fire nu baile/dubstep backbone, and I layered in more dubstep, dancehall touches and extra percussion pushing it even further the genre-blurring space that we both love so much.”
A celebration of their favourite club sounds, Shuga continues, “Following Pesadão, FOURA and I have consistently written a lot of music together but this track is a melting pot of the sounds that define us. After laying down the foundation, I sent it over to FOURA, who elevated the track with her signature magic, bringing the whole vision to life very quickly. We tried blending the weighty sounds of 140 and new school dubstep with the rhythms of Brazilian funk and the sharp percussion sounds of drill.”
Operating somewhere between the tougher edges of UK bass and the more elastic ends of club music, FOURA is hard to pin to one BPM. Moving between UKG, jungle, drumwork, DnB and bass, FOURA is a regular resident across local dancefloors with USBS always on her person. Her path has taken FOURA to supporting Peggy Gou, Sammy Virji, Chase & Status, DJ EZ, Conducta, Flava D, Groove Armada, amongst playing renowned stages at Listen Out, Beyond The Valley, Let Them Eat Cake and previously, Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festivals. With her debut mixtape Taste and remixes for Anna Lunoe, Benson, Zia Jade and Luude & Bru-C, FOURA has been embraced by Ministry of Sound, Beatport, triple j and more.
Her song ‘N.S.E.W.’ with Jalmar soundtracked Carlos Mangubat’s Melbourne Fashion Week show and featured in Netflix’s drama series Public Disorder. In 2025 she kept busy as FOURA Presents was built – a Bandcamp-only compilation series spotlighting emerging and established producers from across the country. With a background in audio engineering, mentoring and design, by donating her time FOURA is not only contributing to a skills and knowledge share in an often gatekeeping industry has also allowed her to raise money for various causes along the way.
Part of the new wave of South Asian artists making their mark in global club culture, Shuga delivers high-energy, genre-blurring sets that fuse UK-influenced sounds with peak-time dancefloor intensity. Pushing the sounds of UK garage, bass, and house across the circuit, the Nepal-born, Australia-based DJ and producer has largely built his catalogue through independent releases, cultivating a growing online following from tracks and remixes gaining traction across streaming platforms and underground DJ networks.
Shuga’s productions have collectively surpassed 420,000 streams, while several releases have found organic momentum on SoundCloud, where his edits and club-focused remixes have been widely shared among DJs and listeners alike. Alongside his headline shows, including Howler, Section 8 and Revolver Upstairs, Shuga has supported international and touring acts including Soul Mass Transit System, Bushbaby, Skeptic, Badger, Brent Honey, Osmosis Jones, Joe Hunt and more, expanding his footprint within Australia’s underground club network.
